Blade Runner 2049

Blade Runner 2049 is all about the search for humanity in a futuristic world. My concept for the movie’s title sequence explores this theme by juxtaposing stark, medical imagery with visions of humans and human life. Though the medical images that appear throughout the sequence are overtly human (cardiogram line, axial brain scan, cell division),they speak to the idea of life in a sterile, impersonal way. In contrast, the visions of humans in the sequence are highly personal, and deal with the hero facing an unknown obstacle. By seaming these two types of imager y together, I hope to address the overarching question that defines the Blade Runner franchise - whether life is defined by physical being or personal experience.
